Jill Jacobson, ‘Star Trek’ and ‘Who’s the Boss?’ Actress, Dies at 70
Jill Jacobson, the celebrated actress known for her roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation & Who’s the Boss?, passed away at 70. Jacobson had recently triumphed over a two-and-a-half-year battle with esophageal cancer but sadly died on December 8, 2024, at the Culver West Health Center in California.
According to her friend and publicist, Dan Harary, Jacobson passed “after a long illness.” Harary described her to Hollwood reporter as “beautiful, energetic, and positive to the end,” adding that she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and beloved dogs, Benny and Kowalski.

Despite being diagnosed with esophageal cancer, Jill Jacobson continued to inspire others. She became the American Cancer Society spokesperson, raising awareness about the disease. Earlier this year, she revealed that she has overcome a two-and-a-half-year constant struggle with esophageal cancer that “kind of took me out of the game for a while.” Her courage and advocacy earned her numerous awards and widespread admiration.
A Talent Beyond Acting
Besides being a popular star in her time, she also performed stand-up comedy at the Improv and the Comedy Store in LA. Jacobson’s The New Gidget co-star Caryn Richman said, “Jill’s comic timing was brilliant, and her enthusiasm and love of life made our time together on set joyful.”
